8th Continent Soymilk Complete Vanilla

Pros: Exceptional taste and texture, somewhat sweet, low fat; contains protein, omega 3s, fiber and calcium
Cons: May be tough to find in your area – I drive across town.
• For a refreshing, healthy beverage, nothing beats 8th Continent Soymilk Complete Vanilla (blue and white carton). Enjoy it like you would a glass of chocolate milk, except that it's vanilla! Shake it slightly, then pour generously on your (preferably unsweetened) cereal. Drink it anytime – especially on hot days or after a workout. Makes a great nighttime snack. Definitely five stars!

CeraVe facial moisturizing lotion PM

Pros: Pleasant feel, non-greasy, barely detectable odor, moisturizes well, works with mineral makeup, convenient pump dispenser, very affordable
Cons: Wish it came in a larger size, like lotion, with a large pump

• CeraVe facial moisturizing lotion PM is an ideal moisturizer. It contains no SPF, and can be used day and/or night. (If you'll be in the sun at all, apply this underneath a non-greasy facial sunscreen.) It's inexpensive, has a pleasant feel, is practically unscented, is non-comedogenic (doesn't clog pores) and works great for normal to somewhat dry skin. Unlike many moisturizers, it can be used with mineral makeup. Just wait 20-30 minutes after application before applying mineral makeup. I highly recommend CeraVe PM. Don't waste money on fancy department store moisturizers, just use this one and see how you like it!

Reese's Puffs cereal

Pros: Delicious taste, takes a while to get soggy, doesn't tear up the roof of your mouth
Cons: Taste is quite mild, texture is very light, so the cereal is not filling

• Reese's Puffs cereal is one of the best sweetened cereals out there. I appreciate the great Reese's chocolate/peanut butter (candy) memories it evokes, and the fact that this cereal is gentle on the roof of your mouth – unlike Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch and its friends. Reese's Puffs are a delight, with or without milk (they can be eaten in a cup or snacked on like popcorn). I adore this cereal, and it's a hit with my family. The cereal receives 4 stars because I'd like a stronger taste, and because the cereal is so light, it takes a lot to feel satisfied. I've used this product to make marshmallow treats (includes chocolate chips, peanut butter, peanut butter chips, dry-roasted peanuts and extra marshmallows). They're good the first day, but even when well wrapped, get sort of stale after that.

Vistaprint

Picture
Pros: One-stop-shop convenience, attractive templates, user-friendly design program, past orders are stored
Cons: Pricing games; prices change daily or often, not the lowest prices out there

• Vistaprint.com is an excellent place to create business cards, brochures, banners and even websites – all with the same themes. I'm very impressed with how easy it is to design things, and when help is needed, there is live phone support most hours of the day. The quality of the cards, brochures, banners and websites has been high. I've customized items for myself and several clients, and have consistently been impressed with this company. They receive four stars, because their prices could be lower, and they play pricing games by having unpredictable fluctuating daily specials.

Indie Hair hairspray #superfirm

Pros: Smells great
Cons: Comes out of the can in large droplets, doesn't hold well

• I tried Indie Hair hairspray #superfirm by Scruples based on a recommendation from my stylist, who loves it. I like the packaging, and the hairspray smells great. My appreciation ends there. The first time I tried it, I noticed that rather than a super fine mist, the spray came out in large, uneven particles. So I quickly replaced the nozzle with one from another hair spray, and it helped, but didn't completely resolve the problem. Most recently, the spray is back to its old tricks: coming out that original way – like hairspray raindrops fallin' on my head. In other news, the spray is called superfirm, but doesn't hold well unless you use extra. I don't want to use twice as much spray, because it will cost me more. Maybe your experience will be different. Please let me know.

Pure Citrus orange air freshener

Picture
Pros: Smells like fresh oranges, instantly covers or replaces odors
Cons: If sprayed in the same place each time in a room, the product can make the floor slippery due to its natural oils – so spray with a sweeping motion.

• I love this room spray; it's the best thing since sliced oranges! Pure Citrus orange air freshener is the best I've found. The container says it's made from 100 percent natural oils from fresh oranges, with no other chemicals. And that's exactly what it smells like: freshly cut oranges! I highly recommend this product. The same company makes other scents, including lemon, grapefruit, citrus blend, lavender and vanilla. All smell great, and it's nice to switch between them. However, if I could only buy one, it would be the orange "flavor."

Lawry's Herb & Garlic 30-minute marinade

Pros: None
Cons: Awful taste

• Lawry's is a well known, highly reputable company. Based on past experience with Lawry's other quality products, I tried Lawry's Herb & Garlic 30-minute marinade on some chicken. The taste was terrible, strong, acidic and too lemony. The chicken was very strange and unpalatable. I wanted to wipe off the dreadful taste and cover the chicken with BBQ sauce or something, but the horrific flavor went all the way through the meat. Members of my family who have cast iron stomachs choked down the marinated chicken the first time but the leftovers went to waste. Simple salt and pepper, though plain, would have been night and day better.
