I have a sick person at home who requested Mrs. Grass Soup. Usually I keep plenty of Mrs. Grass 5-minute soup with the short, straight noodles and "golden flavor nugget." But my local store only carries Lipton and this type of Mrs. Grass soup (homestyle chicken noodle – see photo). Well, after cooking it up and adding my own pre-cooked chicken, I have to say, "I'm not impressed!" The broth is "just OK;" not nearly as good as the 5-minute boxed version. The broth is almost strange. I thought I could make it taste better by adding a bit more water, because it seemed like it needed diluting, but that didn't help! We'll go ahead and eat the soup, because it's there – and we don't want to waste it. After all, the packet says it makes 1/2 gallon! Hopefully the sick person in our house won't care much about the taste. 2 stars.
10/11/16 Update. After refrigerating the soup overnight, the taste improved, the chicken softened up, and the product was overall better. The amount of vegetables is tiny, so this is basically more a chicken soup than a chicken vegetable soup. But I was amazed that the quality increased a few notches. Now I'd give it 3.25 stars. But keep in mind, we're talking about a mix, rather than homemade. So the product is receiving a higher rating than it would if I were judging homemade soup. I might actually buy it again in a pinch.
10/24/15 I recently bought some Mrs. Grass 5-minute soup, and guess what? It no longer comes with a golden flavor nugget! I was disappointed, because that's part of the "homeyness" of this product. On the bright side, the soup tasted the same. It gets 4 stars. (Would have more if the nugget wasn't gone.)
